Combined IPL+RF Treatments

IPL+RF is one of the most modern treatments where better absorption of optical energie is achieved with radio frequency (RF) energy radiation. This technology is suitable for cosmetic interventions as well as permanent hair removal.

Aesthetic treatments:

These treatments promise spectacular and long lasting beauty to both men and women. These may include:

Permanent hair removal:

The light energy used during the treatment is absorbed by the hair pigment (melanin), which is then converted into heat. The thermal energy reaches through the hair into the hair follicle, burning the hair nourishing capillaries. During the treatment, the surrounding tissues are not heated up, and thus stay completely intact. The IPL+RF technique is successfully applicable for all skin types, and is the only type of hair removal which removes lighter hair as well. This treatment can be used at any part of the body, for both men and women. The only exceptions are the soft and hollow parts of the body (eg. ear, nostrils, eyelids).

Post-treatment Reactions

Although the treatment is exceptionally gentle, depending on the magnitude of energy used in some cases there might be some redness, burning, striation might occur for 1-2 days. To prevent this, we do a test after which in a few minutes the result can be seen. After the treatment, as a result of the natural recovery, the brown spots may become even darker, but in 1-2 days they completely disappear.

General Information:

In the life cycle of hair follicles, we define three periods: growth (anagen), transition (catagen) and resting (telogen). The most effective is, when the hair is destroyed in the anagen (growth) phase. Only 20-30 % of the hair on the human body is in that phase. To achieve the desired result, the treatment must be applied several times (6-8 times, depending of the body part). To cover the whole cycle of hair growth, there should be approximately 6-8 weeks between the treatments. These intervals differ based on the thickness, colour and location of the hair as well as on the skin colour. Therefore, it is important to determine the number of treatments, and their time period personally. Between two treatments, hair removal must only be done by razor or cream. This is very important, as only this way can the treatment be truly successful. Waxing, epilator or using tweezers during this time makes life only harder for you and your bank account. These methods remove the hair follicle, preventing the IPL treatment from being successful.

The developmental stages of hair

Possible Questions:

What is the minimum age for the treatments?
Under the age of 18, parental consent is needed, and it is recommended to carry out a hormone test to find out what may be the reasons for the increased hair growth and problematic, pimpled skin. It is important to be aware of the source of the problem, not only the external signs, so the treatments can be truly effective. No treatments are offered under 14 years!

Is the IPL+RF treatment successful in all cases?
While the IPL treatment is successful for about 70% of the patients, IPL+RF is effective at more than 90%. The modern technology ensures the better absorptions of light energy, meaning very high effectivity at all skin tones raging from very dark to individuals with very light hair.

Are the treatments painful?
The treatments are not completely free of pain. The degree of pain differs for individuals and body parts, and can range from a nice warm to slightly burning, stinging feeling. Due to the technical qualities of the machine, the energy is projected onto the skin in several steps. The pain is negligible, thanks to the air and water cooling system, which cools the machinery down to 0-2°C, which soothes the treated skin.

How effective is the treatment?
The change occurs gradually. To achieve the desired results, depending on the treated body surface 3-6 treatments are needed, with 21-45 day in-between. Due to biological and anatomical reasons, for some individuals, after some years there might be a need for a follow up treatment.

Are there any harmful side effects?
The treatment has no harmful side effects. The light energy and the RF are only absorbed by the skin, up to a depth 2-4 mm, not effecting an other organs of tissues.

Why is there a need to shave before permanent hair removal?
The hair acts as a ‘leader’, bringing the energy to the hair follicles wished to be destroyed. If the hair is too long, then it can absorbs too much energy thus not brining enough to the hair follicle. The hair doesn’t strengthen from shaving, this process is only to ensure the hairs are brought together to the same growth phase.

Between the treatments, is it allowed to epilate, way or use tweezers?
Avoid epilation, waxing or tweezing 2-4 weeks before the first treatment as well as during the process. It is only allowed to use razors, bringing together the hairs into the same growing phase, as discussed in the previous question.

Following successful treatment, is it possible that the hair may grow back?
Years later, new hair follicles may become activated. Approximately one third of the hair follicles may vegetate (sleep) for years, becoming activated by hormonal or genetic reasons. Thus, for these reasons, new hair can appear.

What is the recommended age for photorejuvenation face treatment?
Skin aging starts after the age of 20, and the earliest signs are the visible wrinkles around the eye, thus the treatment is recommended for everyone over this age. The visible acne scars, can be treated after their processes are over, even at the end of the adolescent age.

What sun protection should I use after the treatments?
Less sticky, water based with high SPF number are preferred.

Is it possible to start or continue the treatment during summer?
On those parts of the body, which are less exposed to direct light, - such as the armpits, or the bikini region – it is possible to start the treatment in summer, however tanned or solarium tanned skin weakens the effectivity of the treatment.
